Summary
See the AG-4X automatic roll groover in action, with close-up views of a grooved steel pipe, its inner surface, and the grooving rolls. This showcase connects the machining process with finished groove details and outlines the information needed to select a suitable machine and roll configuration.

When choosing a pipe roll groover, machine specifications are only part of the picture. Seeing the equipment in operation and examining the finished pipe can provide a clearer understanding of the grooving process and its results.
In this showcase, we share an AG-4X automatic roll groover demonstration, together with close-up photos of a grooved short steel pipe, its inner surface, and the machine’s rolls.
Automatic Roll Grooving for Repetitive Pipe Processing
Roll grooving is a recurring task in pipe prefabrication and batch processing. Along with pipe diameter and wall thickness, buyers need to consider the machine’s operating method, workflow, and roll configuration.
The AG-4X is part of our automatic roll groover range for steel pipe processing. For users who regularly groove similar pipe sizes, automatic equipment is an option to consider when planning their production workflow. Machine selection should take into account the pipe specifications, material, required groove profile, and processing needs.
A Closer Look at the Finished Groove
The workpiece shown here is a short section of steel pipe after roll grooving. The close-up photo shows the circumferential groove near the pipe end, together with the surrounding pipe surface.
While the video shows the machine working, the finished-pipe photo allows a closer inspection of the groove profile and its position relative to the pipe end. Together, these views connect the processing operation with the actual result.

For a grooved pipe connection, the finished groove dimensions must meet the requirements of the selected coupling system. When confirming a machine configuration, it is therefore useful to specify the required groove profile as well as the pipe diameter and wall thickness.
Inside the Pipe: Another View of the Formed Groove
The external groove is the most visible result of the process. A photo of the pipe’s inner surface provides another perspective.
This close-up shows the internal shape at the groove location, along with visible contact marks. Comparing the external and internal photos gives a more complete view of the processed pipe.

These close-ups also help make equipment discussions more specific. They reveal details that are difficult to see in an overall machine photo or a general operation video.
Grooving Roll Details
The rolls are the machine components that contact the pipe directly and participate in forming the groove. They are also an important part of the equipment configuration.
The photo below shows the AG-4X’s grooving rolls. Viewed alongside the finished-pipe photos, it helps illustrate the relationship between the machine’s contact surfaces and the processed workpiece.

The roll configuration needs to match the pipe size, material, and required groove profile. Providing these details during an enquiry helps us confirm a suitable configuration and makes the selection process more straightforward.
